Welcome to Customputing
A short note on what this site is, who it's for, and what's on the workbench.
This is the opening post for Customputing — a place to keep computing notes, tutorials, and a small marketplace under one roof. Think of it as a workbench you can wander into, browse what's pinned to the wall, and join if you want to leave your own notes behind.
What's here
Two corners are open to everyone, no account needed:
- The blog — what you're reading. Longer-form notes on whatever problem I'm currently chewing on.
- DIY / Dev Insight Yak — hands-on guides and project journals. Bring snacks.
Two corners need an account:
- Marketplace — buy and sell builds, files, and small kits.
- Bulletin board — discussions and show-and-tell.
How content gets here
Posts are markdown files. Run one build command and they turn into static HTML pages that load fast, work without JavaScript, and stay indexable by search engines. The dynamic stuff — your account, the marketplace, the bulletin board — lives on a separate backend that the static pages reach through an API when you actually need it.
What's next
A handful of guides I'm drafting:
- Setting up Postgres for a personal project without losing a weekend
- The "small SaaS" stack I'd start with today
- A walkthrough of the multi-domain backend behind this site
If you have something you'd like to read about, the bulletin board is where to suggest it — once you're signed in.
